Fall protection

Generally speaking, fall protection refers to devices and procedures that are intended to prevent a fall when standing or working in higher areas, where such an accident could lead to injuries or even worse due to the potential height of the fall. Different types of fall protection are used in different areas:
In the construction industry,  fall protection from a certain height  consists of one or more components such as a parapet, railing or guardrail that allows the user to move safely on surfaces that are not at ground level.
Temporary measures such as scaffolding, temporary railings, safety nets, cable safety devices or covers are also used for fall protection in general occupational safety. On flat roofs, fixed anchor points (securants) can be incorporated for inspecting and maintaining safety systems.
For climbing safety in industry and sport, fall protection is generally provided by a rope that is hooked into intermediate anchors using quickdraws and often a belay partner who, if necessary, intercepts the climber’s fall using a belay safety device.
Regulated by Fire Service Regulation 1, fall protection for firefighters is primarily ensured by a special “fall protection set” and, in an emergency, with the help of a firefighter’s line and firefighter’s harness.
