Description
Safety measures are essential for rescuing and recovering people during rescue operations or for preventive fall protection during difficult work at great heights. However, simple roping up does not protect against injuries as effectively as height safety and rescue hoists (height access and rescue device). These not only make rescue easier, but usually also feature effective fall absorption, which is essential for preventing injuries. Today, an extension arm – also known as a power arm, cantilever arm or personnel lifting crane – is usually used for easier recovery.
Depending on requirements, this can be permanently mounted for general fall protection for repeated use or used as a mobile unit. Typical areas of application for fall protection include silos or other high-rise structures, such as those found in factories and other businesses. Professional fall protection is essential for maintaining or repairing facilities of this kind. With the LECHTALER products PHK II-S (steel version) and PHK II-E (stainless steel version), we offer two sophisticated devices for precisely these tasks. Both extension arms are designed for use with a height access and rescue device and are certified by TÜV Munich for personal safety and fall protection in accordance with EN 795 A and CEN/TS 16415.
PHK II-S extension arm for persons and loads
With the PHK II-S, we offer an all-round device for fall protection, rescuing people and lifting loads. This extension arm is characterised by its versatility, a sophisticated operating concept with a smooth-running load winch and ease of handling. Thanks to the “Easy” bracket, the PHK II-S extension arm is compatible as an approved anchor point with the height safety and rescue hoists (height access and rescue device) from our portfolio, eliminating the need for additional equipment for securing or rescue. The four-stage height adjustment has proven effective in practice, as has the modular design, which allows the extension arm to be quickly assembled and disassembled in just a few minutes.
The specialist: PHK II-E as a cantilever arm for difficult environments
If a cantilever arm is to be used for fall protection and personal rescue even under the most difficult environments, we recommend our PHK II-E extension arm. Thanks to the use of high-quality V4A stainless steel, this extension arm is ideally suited for use in sensitive areas, such as the food industry, refineries, wind turbines or waste disposal plants. The device is highly corrosion-resistant and therefore also ideally suited for use in damp environments and even offshore. The PHK II-E extension arm also serves as a lifting device, making it easier to raise and lower loads. Thanks to the “Easy” mount, this safety device is also compatible with height access and rescue devices and load winches. Its three-way adjustable tilt angle makes it easy to swivel and operate in all conditions.
Good to know: The crane can be pivoted and locked smoothly in place through 360° even under full load thanks to a special centric bearing of the vertical support post.
Correct attachment of anchor points
For an extension arm, also known as a cantilever arm, to serve as an anchor point for securing or rescuing people and safely lifting or lowering loads, it must be attached to suitable bearings. For the greatest possible flexibility, LECHTALER supplies these in different shapes and variants (steel or stainless steel version); connecting elements with static design are included in the delivery. Depending on the model, the designs are either wall-mounted, e.g. for mounting on concrete walls, or floor-mounted. The latter are particularly suitable for on-site installation or for setting the bearing for the extension arm in concrete.
